Peter Olmsted is a former Senior Vice President of Human Resources for General Cable Corporation (NYSE: BGC). General Cable is a Fortune 500 Company employing more than 15,000 associates, and Peter had global responsibility for all aspects of the Human Resources (HR) function. Peter joined Perspective Advisors in 2008 and established the Company’s Cincinnati, Ohio office. He earned a BBA in Business Administration from Pace University in New York and an MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati.

Peter began his career in 1984 in the insurance industry working as a HR recruiter and generalist. He joined General Cable Corporation in 1987 and worked his way up through the HR function serving in a variety of plant, division and corporate HR roles. Peter left General Cable briefly from 1995 to 1998 and served as Vice President of HR for Formica Corporation where he worked with Duff Young, former President of Formica. At Formica, Peter led the establishment of a new world-class management team who delivered significant improvements to overall sales and profitability. Peter also assisted Duff in readying the business for a successful sale to a new group of private investors in 1998. At that time, Peter returned to General Cable as Vice President of Human Resources and was later promoted to Senior Vice President. Over the next decade, General Cable grew sales from $1.5 billion to well over $6 billion with substantial growth in both profitability and market capitalization. Peter worked directly for Greg Kenny, President and Chief Executive Officer of General Cable and regularly worked with both the Governance Committee and Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors. He oversaw all aspects of the HR function at General Cable and was a member of the Company’s Leadership Team for the ten years prior to joining Perspective Advisors.

Peter is an expert in executive and board staffing, management development and compensation. He is also highly experienced in labor relations, labor law, union avoidance, training, and employee benefits. His successful HR experience, combined with his broad business knowledge, allows him to provide clients with unique insight in the areas of executive talent management and business performance.
